As always an excellent read. Full of great information. This Marine is going to be 78 Thanksgiving Day. Years ago I was both tough, in shape and feared nothing that I could physically hit.

What you shared should waken us senior readers as well. We are venerable yet extremely vulnerable too. We have a on hand in every room accessible weapons. We also have our 120 pound White German Shepard. He is an early warning device.

Out and about now has risks we only had in bad section of major city’s before. Now with the invasion it’s spread to once safe zones. The most important advice I could give is being extremely mindful of your surroundings. The other would be plan ahead to minimize exposure.

I left out something really cool. We had Ring installed. We live in what would be considered a middle class neighborhood. The amount of attempted home invasion and other bold robberies and theft has risen dramatically during the last three years.

Good suggestions, Tony! And, have a very Happy Birthday! 🥳🍾

Yes, us seniors are particularly vulnerable to quick robberies and snatch and grabs. I warned my older cousin after her husband passed not to show his wedding ring worn on a gold chain while she went for a walk or was out in public. I pleaded with her to tuck it in her shirt. One day at Kroger's, not only was her purse stolen in the parking lot as she walked to the store, but they also ripped her necklace off with her husband's wedding ring. She was devastated.

Nice people need to not be so gullible and think situations like this only happen to others. Where this happened was in what used to be one of the upper-middle class neighborhoods in Wayne County. These things happen everywhere, and in every neighborhood.

The increase growth to our state and where we live has been staggering over the last few years. Townhouses, apartments, condos, and large subdivisions popping up all around us and filled with people of all nationalities.

Everyone is a potential target, and that should never be ignored. For those reasons, I even quit carrying a purse in public. Even people in more rural areas are not any safer, because per capita they have more crime due to small police forces who may take an hour or more to reach any given house. Which is why many of those households are prepared to take the law into their own hands.

Home security units are relatively inexpensive, we have the Zumimall solar security system installed outdoors and indoors, and we can access it from wherever we are. So, back at you, my friend! You and yours stay safe, keep your heads on a swivel and be well! 🫡

Hi Monica,

I tried to share a telegram post of Ron Paul stating that on 11/22/63 was indeed a Coup. I will get it eventually.

All of our Family’s need to be more Diligent. It’s a sad fact of life. What happened to the 700,000 War Aged Illegal Immigrants the Handlers of Biden positioned across our Country.

It Ain’t Over Yet my Friend.

No it isn't, Tony. Most like minded people know there is something very sinister happening. It's much too quiet! Stand together and pray for peace!

It's difficult to put a like to something this invasive. What rights do people have anymore? This makes me very angry!

I have been Angry since 1966. It had nothing to do with my injuries. It had everything to do with my Brothers around me being destroyed.

When I found out it was an internal Coup that not only murdered my President John F. Kennedy but overthrew our way of life, it destroyed the illusion.

Everything was available almost in 2013-2016. You could find out what really happened in Oklahoma City, the attempted Murder of President Reagan by Bush.

One could also go back to Prescott Bush and his outright evil. It’s amazing how duped down ur Citizenry has been for the past 60 plus years. I don’t know if like Jack said, they can’t handle the truth.

Where is the outrage in Congress over who is really running the Insanity of the hoax administration. I Pray President Trump and His Cabinet choices bring truth and change. The hardest truth won’t be Epstein’s black book.

Who all was involved in the 11/22/63 Coup is important. A real audit of where and how we are supposedly in debt to the Fed JFK was about to end. Johnson ended JFK’s Executive Order. The Fed had been the primary Victor in the Blood Money in the Endless Wars.

Sorry I am on a rant again. It’s just that We The Real People don’t owe the Fed a dime; period. Elon and Vivick have more than downsizing to do; accountability for 60 years of taxation without representation has to come to light.

😇🙏🏾❤️🇺🇸

Do you have actual instruction in self-defense or are you just free-forming it and taking what you learn off of the Internet? Not trolling just curious.

Yes, I have taken self-defense classes, my husband also taught self-defense classes. My son was with SWAT, and a field medic and trainer. As a family, we are informed and prepared. BTW no offense taken. I write what I know, and what I've learned along the way from other peppers. My guy is also a maker of bushcraft knives, and can live off the land.

Great article, I sure hope this gets read a lot. Pens - reminds me of John Wick and that pencil, OMG. Good move to remember. LOL

If anyone's thinking of getting a gun, I recommend keeping it as much on the down low as possible. In my state, it's legal to buy from another resident of my state w/o needing any paperwork. Pay cash. Consider a musket and/or crossbow too. Diversify. Don't advertise it.

Share far and wide!

Love John Wick! There was also a quick move with a pencil when Heath Ledger as the Joker made that move in The Dark Knight. You are right about keeping a low profile about weapons. Unfortunately, my guy lost all his you know what in a boating accident, wink wink 😉 Poinsett Auction is an authorized gun seller and often has gun and ammo auctions. They also ship. I know of people on NY that bury their arms encased in PVC pipe. That's more common that people think. An interesting fact about our state, is in the event of a national emergency, any gun holder over 18 can be inducted into a voluntary militia. Our governor is under the option the South will not go down without a fight. My whole family carries.

I seriously considered burying a gun - before it was lost in a boating accident. But seriously, when anyone is considering burying gun(s)...that's the time to start using them.

Expand full comment

That is very true. We never say exactly how many guns and boxes of ammo were lost during that " boating accident". The less anyone knows, the better it is that they remain missing, right?

If carrying a concealed weapon is not allowed in your state, move to a place where it is not disallowed. Easiest to use for most folks is a snub nose revolver in .38 Special or a pistol in .380 ACP or 9mm. Get some training, practice, always carry.

First thing, clear your mind and accept that you are about to be attacked. Secondly, resolve to engage with maximum effect. Third, turn to face your assailant. Fourth, BITE, CLAW, GOUGE, STOMP & KICK. Always go for the eyes.

A million years ago I was a campus patrolman at a university in Texas. I would participate in a women’s safety seminar with another officer at each dorm every semester. We taught the various strikes and blows that are popular.

Of course the idea first is risk mitigation, travel in pairs, use lighted areas and call for the escorts we provided. E we know this wasn’t always followed.

I always liked to remind the newly emancipated adults females they are equipped with ten sharp weapons, five on each hand. Drive those into the eyes of the assailant if necessary. They often cringed and said they could never do that. I then reminded them what was intended to be placed inside of them without their consent.

They often asked the best ways to carry out those instructions after a few seconds of thought on the matter.

Thanks for putting out the article.

Thank you for commenting! I also want to thank you for making young women aware that they can be vulnerable. So many focus on their new-found freedom and neglect to pay attention on their way around campus. Those young women who participated, learned some valuable lessons, which I hope they carried on through their lives!

Impact weapons need to be accessible. Pointed or edged are typically easier to reach and conceal and require less range of motion. Critical if your pinned. I suggest everyone carry a metal tactical pen in their pocket or purse with a glass breaker point on one end. Used as a kuboton to poke into soft targets. If you are attacked there is no reason to be nice! Jab the pen into an eye or neck/ throat to gain space and then run.

Yes! Good advice, and thank you for commenting! Absolutely, first the eyes. Don't worry about those long fingernails, they're the best weapons you have. If you can plant a palm and shove upwards on their nose, it'll put them down in a heartbeat!

Good one! Anything that you can firmly hold and jab! Many years ago, especially at night, I always held my car keys where one stuck out between my fingers. This list can really grow. Anyone else have any more ideas, it's always good to share! Thanks for your comment, and glad you're here!
