Vivid descriptions, ample history made more personal by virtue of talking about "regulars" and "volunteers". Their struggles are riveting, humbling me. I really value your work.
Thank you, Jarret for your most kind comment. 🩷 John S. McCurry's farm was not far from where my sister lives near Diamond Hill area. She has found many war artifacts on her property and has seen the same Confederate soldier off and on for the past 25 years. There is so much history just in the Abbeville County alone. One day, I will write about a few of the documented ghost stories in that area.
I'm glad you are doing better and are back, I missed you, Monica! When I read your articles, I can visualize as I read, you put your all in your writings, I greatly appreciate you. Thank you for another piece of history.
Monica, this was another excellent piece of writing and research. For 160 years since the WBTS ended, we are still under the, well might I say curse, of the effects of how it ended. We have never recovered as a country. Truly it seems that we had a true constitutional republic from the time of New Hampshire's ratification of the United States Constitution on May 28, 1787 to Lee's Surrender at Appomattox on April 9, 1865. After the surrender, starting with embryonic form and developing into what we have in 2025, we only really pay lip service to our constitution. We obey it when it is convenient, ignore it when deemed to be erroneous, and interpreted into oblivion when possible. Many people talk about danger to our democracy, which shows their ignorance, since we have a constitutional republic. Enough of my talk. Thank you for your commitment to excellence and the truth. Praying for your full and complete recovery. Take care, Monica.
Glad you’re back. Good piece. Some time one must fight but war is hell. I agree with General Flynn “ I’m not anti war but I am against stupid war.” Have we ever recovered from the Civil War.?

Thank you, it was tough but I'll try not to disappoint. I don't believe we have ever recovered from that war, Al!
